2001 Preservation March for Franklin November 16-18, 2001 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
On November 16th, 17th & 18th, 21 Civil War reenactors (each representing one of the states with soldiers at the Battle of Franklin) marched from Columbia to Franklin. Each marcher had per-mile sponsors who donated money for reclaiming and preserving the 3.22 acre Collins Farm - a part of the hallowed Franklin, Tennessee Battlefield. This is the first march of this type that STFB has done. It required much help and effort by several dedicated reenactors who had past experience in such projects. Even though there were lots of blisters and sore muscles at the finish line, STFB was greatly pleased with the $12,699 that was raised for the Collins Farm purchase. We are eternally grateful to the volunteers who made the march and their sponsors who raised the funds. The funds raided by state:
