Continue on East Main Street to the Harpeth River Bridge. The old bridge was originally located one-half block north of the present bridge. The bridge had been destroyed before Schofield's supply wagon train had reached Franklin. This necessitated his decision to make the defensive stand while the covered railroad bridge was planked for transport of these wagons.
