2002 Preservation March for Franklin November 15-16, 2002 'Forty for Franklin - 2002' |

On Friday & Saturday, November 15th & 16th, 2002, Civil War reenactors marched "Forty for Franklin - 2002" to help Save The Franklin Battlefield, Inc. The twenty-one uniformed reenactors covered 40 miles during two terrible days of wet and cold weather to raise funds to help retire the debt on Collins Farm in Franklin. The totals for the "Forty for Franklin - 2002" march was $16,303. Every penny of these funds went to the purchase of the Collins Farm battlefield parcel in Franklin. Again, our many thanks to those who endured the terrible wet & cold weather to make the march, and saw the project to it's successful completion. Our hats are off to you and your all of your sponsors. You did well..... really well. Another round of thanks goes to the STFB volunteers who provided the logistical support for the marchers. Firewood and straw must be procured and pre-positioned, and both march-days require an all-day trailing escort, long distance delivery of food and drink, and the occasional issue of dry socks. The support team was more than up to the job. They were superb.
