Harlinsdale Farm

National Register of Historic Places

239 Franklin Rd

Harlinsdale Farm was formerly a renowned horse-breeding farm, home of the famous Walking Horse, “Midnight Sun,” and is scheduled to become a Franklin city park. During the Army of Tennessee’s  retreat from Nashville, this land was the site of heavy fighting between Confederate infantry and Federal cavalry on December 17th.  On the high knoll across Nashville Pike from Harlinsdale was the Turnpike Fort, a part of the Fort Granger complex.

Leaving Harlinsdale, turn right onto Franklin Road, continuing to Liberty Pike.  Turn left onto Liberty Pike, continuing to Eddy Lane.  Turn right on Eddy Lane to Fort Granger Drive.  Turn right onto Fort Granger Drive, continue driving about 100 yards. Walk a short distance to the city park sign seen on the left. This is the entrance into the Fort Granger earthworks. Please keep to the path to protect the site from erosion.
